I apologize. I accidently clicked on "reply" before ready. I wanted to tell you that I will print out all that you have written to me on this subject and take a copy of it all to give the neurologist, I'm quite sure she will take this all into consideration. Also, I will be happy to let you know how she uses your information. Considering the fact that no one has had any answers, your information cannot be ignored.
I want you to know also, all information you have given on symptoms of Arachnoiditis are spot on. Every time I've had to give my symptoms It's been so difficult. So many the doctors don't seem to think it could be all
I can't thank you enough for your expert information. Not one Dr. has said anything remotely close to the information you've given me. This all new. It has also given me some hope. Even if it cannot be cured, putting a name on this condition makes it much more bearable. Knowing this hopefully won't kill me, things that may be the cause and how to possibly manage it also gives me hope psychologically. It has gotten me down physically and me and mentally (emotionally). What you have said and knowing your credentials, I have every reason to feel you absolutely know what you are speaking about.
It just happens that I see a new Neurologist on Wed, May 21st (2 days from now). I will print all this out and take a copy to this
Hi!
I am sorry to hear about your medical problems. You need to consult your doctor to find out whether you have pain due to arachnoiditis or inflammation of the arachnoid membrane of the spinal cord. Arachnoiditis develops secondary to infection (bacterial or viral) or inflammation (caused by diseases or chemicals injected into the epidural space) or due to chronic compression on the spinal cord/spinal nerves. With time adhesions develop due to formation of scar tissue. This is a chronic disease with no known cure. Treatment is aimed at pain relief and involves both pharmacological treatments (pills, pain relief patches, pain relief ointments and gels) and non-pharmacological (acupressure, physiotherapy, corsets, swimming etc).
Whole body ache may not be related to surgery. It may be due to low vitamin B12, low vitamin D, mineral deficiencies or excess, low iron, infections like infectious mononucleosis or due to post surgery depression.
Please consult your doctor regarding these possibilities. Hope this helps. Take care!
