severe cognitive problems

I'm a 34 yr old male who's been getting increasingly confused and muddled now over the past six or so months, feeling more and more drunk and daze like. With this, I'm also experiencing severe muscle twitching, short term memory problems, and feeling a bit off balance now and again.

I saw a neurologist a couple of months after all this started, and he wasn't at all concerned in the symptoms I was presenting, telling me it was probably psychological. He sent me for an MRI head scan a short while afterwards anyway, and it came back normal. Have had a full set of blood tests done now, testing all normal levels, and these were also fine.

As this has persisted for nigh on seven months now, and is still getting worse, I am returning to my doctor on Monday to see about a return visit to the neurologist. Any ideas as to what tests, etc I should ask for next, as the fact I've been checked out by a neurologist - albeit three or so months ago now – seems to make my doctor think I'm just becoming obsessed, when in reality, all I want is to try and do is get to the bottom of things, given my quality of life at the moment is non-existent.

Hi drrajgopal18,

Thanks for your reply.

I've been taking a good multi vitamin supplement, along with vitamin c, and iron supplements, and alsoh Veg Epa fish oil capsules, for the past six or so months now, since just after the onset of symptoms, to no effect.

Hi,
If all the tests are normal , the most probable cause for your symptoms could be a Vitamin B complex deficiency . Vitamin deficiency leads to a number of neurological symptoms  like  confusion , short term  memory loss , etc . Please add good multivitamin , multimineral , Omega 3 , Protein and iron supplements to your diet . Take adequate rest and see the difference after a few days . For more information on vitamin deficiency , please refer to the site -  http://www.something-fishy.org/dangers/vitamins.php. Hope this helps you . Do keep me posted . Please visit the neurologist if the symptoms persist . Take care and regards !
