spinal cavenomas

I'm new to this and just wondered if anyone could help with my previous question about a spinal cavenoma I have just been diagnosed with. I have several in the brain-one of which in the temporal lobe on right was removed 10 yrs ago. My symptoms now are lower back pain, shoulder pain and hypersensitivity on the left hand side from the shoulder down, also left leg from the knee down. My GP said he will prescribe Gabapentin for the pain, I just wondered what anyone thought about this. I would appreciate your views, thank you

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to me. I looked into the CH a little as a few years after my operation we found out that mother had one in the brain and one in the CNS with the same symptoms as mine. I have 3 brothers, one of which has a CH in the basil ganglia and the other two brothers one older and one younger seem to be free of them thank God. My pain and that of my brother too can be quite unbearable at times but I will see how the medication goes, the neurologist started me on pregabalin instead of gabapentin two weeks ago. I see him in mid July so I can cope with it until then, hot water bottles are so good! Thank you again for taking the time to inform me about the condition, I guess I have been trying not to think about this one.

Hi there!

CH associated in the CNS can be associated in a few familial conditions and can potentially be dangerous owing to the tendency of expansion and spontaneous bleeding. CH associated in the CNS are largely managed surgically especially when symptomatic. The symptoms described in your case may or may not be related to the cavernous haemangiomas. I would suggest considering a detailed evaluation by a neurologist for suggestion of an appropriate management plan.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
