what can this be

Hi,
I've had tinnitus continuous for 4 years, and burning skin pain that started on my face and upper arms and now is also on my legs.  I have flare ups that last for days, weeks or even longer.  They come on suddenly and leave suddenly.  This time my legs also felt wobbly, with the left one being worse than the right one. Skin looks normal, no rash or warmth.  Cold air makes it feel much worse.  I get cold sores occasionally and take valtrex as needed.  I'm otherwise very healthy, 47y/o female.  Don't feel anxious or stressed out.
mri of brain/spine normal, sed rate, thyroid, ana, b12, cbc bmp, estrogen, fsh levels, blood pressure, all normal.
my cholesterol runs pretty low-total 120, ldl 40.
thanks for any help

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.
The possibility for your symptoms of burning skin can be herpetic neuralgia. Also since you have history of cold sores.
Please discuss this possibility with your treating doctor. Take care!

I had tinnutitis in my ears.  I was diagnosed with "TMJ" . This was diagnosed by a specialty dentist.  I was fitted for a bite guard for sleeping or stressful situations. I had previously seen an ear, throat and nose specialist to get my ears checked - those tests showed that my ears checked out fine.  I still had tinnutis and I was refferred to a D.D.S.specialty dentist who also deals with facial pain.  Since I received the diagnose of TMJ and have followed his suggestions my tinnutitis is practically gone! I still have a small amount of ringing but that's as good as I can get as I have other issues that prevent it from going away entirely. It's worth a try if you have not seen a D.D.S. because i had other symptoms as well. GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!
