Constipation occuring regularly

I apologize if I am in the wrong section, but for the past few months I have been experiencing constipation on almost a daily basis. I find it weird that I get constipated with the foods I eat. For example, after having lettuce, apples, cheese, yogurt, I get constipated. It can get very painful in my lower stomach and sometimes takes a day or two after to have a bowel movement.

Do you have any suggestions as to what may be causing this, and what foods I can have that are healthy but won't cause this?

Thank you

Suggest increasing whole wheat, grains, and oatmeal to your diet, plus fluids. To move our bowels the body needs fiber and fluids. Eight glasses (8ozs) or more a day.
