I am 18 years old, 6 foot 0 inches, and weigh only 120 pounds. I have been underweight since I was a child.
Several months ago I got pretty sick but didn't go to the doctor. After a couple of days everything was fine - I figured I had a stomach flu. Ever since then, during my meals I will get a strong feeling of indigestion. The feeling is basically a feeling of fullness, lots of gas, and what has scared me the most is a feeling of vomitting. Luckily I have never vommitted during a meal, but I usually feel like I am stuffing myself so full that if I eat another bite I will throw it all up - even during the middle of a meal when I haven't eaten that much, or 1/2 of what I could eat 6 months ago before this illness.
I have read WEBMD, and it is recommended to eat slowly and to eat lots of small meals - I have tried this, but this problem continues to happen. It is more severe at lunch time. I don't mind the pain in my stomach or the gas, but I don't want to feel like vommitting everytime I eat.
On a side note, probably unrelated, I have been drinking Boost shakes (2 a day, 350 calories per shake) to try to gain weight. I have been doing this for over a year, and have not gained any weight. I usually eat between 2500-3000 calories per day. Also, I thought this problem might have been due to soda intake, so I've stopped drinking soda, and only stick to milk and orange juice, plus mostly healthy foods (non-fried, salads, meat, cottage cheese, etc). Bowel movements: good, 1 every 2 days.
I hope I can fix this & gain some weight...Thanks for your time in helping me! -repost
