adrenal insufficiency problems??

I have a problem with poor eating/water intake which has gotten worse over a long period time, due to underlying psychological problems and a 'mysterious' illness which caused me great worry, anxiety and emotional distress. The 'illness' has literally taken control of my daily life and activities, to the point where I have not eaten properly or drank enough fluids in fear of provoking the condition. Thankfully I am receiving help for the underlying psychological problems and Drs have found I have a dysfunctional sphincter between my food pipe and stomach. However, I am worried that my symptoms are far worse than I first thought - I am worried about 'adrenal insufficiency'. I suffer from a whole host of problems, which I think have been caused due to the underlying emotional problems which are only now being addressed, these are: tense/painful nerves in shoulder, back and chest, constant dizziness, loss of muscle tone/strength, constant exhaustion/tiredness, tired eyes, empty/heavy/fuzzy head feeling, joint/ligament pains, chronic acid reflux. I would like to know more about this and would like to hear from anyone who has suffered, or is suffering, with this condition and how they have made a recovery, or are recovering. How can I persuade my Dr to look into this and what tests can be done? Thanks.

Has anyone looked at your thyroid to see if there are issues there?  I have hypothyroidism and have had a lot of those same symptoms.  You sound like you would lean toward hypERthyroidism instead, but some symptoms can be the same or similar for either hypo or hyper......

My acid reflux has nearly gone away since I've been on proper medication and so have a lot of my other symptoms.  I'm also deficient in vitamin B12 -- take shots every 2 weeks -- makes a world of difference........

Blood tests can show us the levels of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients - protein, different types of fat, glucose levels. Suggest an Iron profile blood work to check iron levels and see if there is anemia or not.

Hi,

Have gone back to my Dr. Suggested to them getting full blood test done to look at nutrient, mineral and vitamin levels. Dr and nurse both said there was no such thing! Which I know there is! I am based in UK - not sure if this sort of test is routine in US, but over here its unheard of and not considered a part of the NHS practice. Instead I had routine bloods taken and ECG - which have come back clear/negative. After having a 24 hr ph test, I have been found to have dysfunctional sphincter between stomach and food pipe. Have been referred to Gastro specialist to discuss options. I'm not convinced though that this is why I am always feeling so diizzy/lightheaded, muscle weakness, muscular-skeletal pains in/around chest wall/upper rib cage, as well as bowel pains and slight constipation. Have also been having pure bright red fresh blood in stools - but I think this is caused by straining and fact that stools are so sharp/solid. I have problems passing properly. This has improved over last week with introduction of more fruits/vegs into diet! (Surprise surprise!). But why am I soooo dizzy/extremely exhausted and weak!??!??!

From your height, you are underweight approximately 40-46lbs. Suggest getting blood work done by your MD to see your nutrient, vitamin and mineral levels.
