Recommended food intake / day

Hello

I am new on this site...and I found it fantastic! Makes me realize few things...
I will be 50 in 3 weeks.
I calculated through this site the total amount of calories a day I should take... The problem is that I only eat a third of what I am allowed. I am not starving, I am not restricting myself and I eat when I am hungry.
I am just wondering if I should keep going like this or if not, what should I do??

Thank you for your help
Andrea

For your age, you need 1500-1800 calories a day. Suggest you do not go below 1200 calories per day because the body will not get the nutrients it needs to keep you healthy. Frequent small meals are the best way to eat for our bodies and you will find that you will lose weight eating that way. Keep up the good healthy eating that you are started.

Hello

Thank you for your reply

According to this site I should have 2560.43 cal a day but I eat from 975 to 1200 a day only...I started having proper breakfast and more water (from 16 to 32 oz a day) and I assume it makes a big difference in the amount of food intake...
I am eating highly healthy food and added recommended food to decrease (or control?) hunger attacks!  :-) as in cinnamon, oatmeal, lentils etc...
I eat only when my stomach is making noises :-)) and I usually have 3 small meals and 2-3 small snacks a day (which could be also count as small meals) Its the best way to do it for me.

Have a lovely day
