Vitamin D deficiency

Hi, I was diagnosed w/ vit D deficiency 1.5 yrs ago. My dr prescribe 50,000 IU/wk supp. and I was 2 mos on, 2 mos off during the past year. Nonetheless, my vit D level persistently remains in low 10s, and my serum calcium level keeps rising.  Meanwhile, my symptoms get worse and worse - extreme fatigue, body aches, frequent infections, ... I'm so exhaused and frustrated.  My dr cannot figure out reason for failure to raise my vit D.  Just got another Rx of vit. D and I'm not sure whether taking it will make me feel any better.  Can someone share some insights into what is the possible missing/hidden cause of my problems? Thanks so much!

Thx! Had EGD last wk, still waiting for biopsy, GI dr didn't think it was Celiac. My PCP sent me to DXA to eval how bad things are.  Already added probiotics. Will try L-arginine, but I also have GERD, hope I can tolerate it.  Cannot take L-glutamine as dr suspecting liver/gallbladder disease right now. It's horrifying to see how much muscle/bone mass I lost and how much my health deteriorated over just a couple years. I was running marathon two years ago, and bedridden in agonizing pain all over my body today.

Keep supplementing the vitamin d.

You could get tested for Celiac disease.  That causes malabsorption and can therefore cause vitamin D deficiency.  The vit D deficiency causes the hypercalcemia you described.  Get some sunlight also in safe amounts.  Maybe L-argimine and L-glutamine would help you like it's helped me by helping digestion.  Probiotics may even help, but this is just general health support.
