correct diet for patient with wired jaws

My son was in an accident, and was in the hospital for 5 days. He came home with his jaws wired shut. He has been home for 3 days, and has graduated from clear liquids to smoothies. He is allowed to have food that is pureed today, and I would like to know what foods I should start him on first. Thanks

I am surprised that the doctor didn't give you diet suggestions.  If he is now on pureed foods, you can puree any foods that he likes to eat.  If he has exposed metal stay away from acidic foods as they may interact with the metals.  You may consider giving him a liquid diet supplement like Pediasure to give him vitamins and minerals. If he has problems or allergies to foods, call the doctor and ask for suggestions that are unique to him.  good luck
