If the rod is displaced and causing problems then rod removal is an option.
But before anything he has to go for diagnosis by an X-ray/MRI to find out about the present position of the rod and correlating clinically with the orthopaedician and taking the best course of action. Take care!
Kat,
I just had my rod removed from my left tibia after two years of my body rejecting it and a total of four surgeries. Just had it removed on August 10th and on day one I was able to walk but just a little. I am so glad it's gone - no more hardware!! I hope this gives you and your husband encouragement to get his removed.
If you don't mind me asking what where yor symptoms of the rod being rejected? I think I might be going through be same thing. And what was it made of? Any help would be great!
