Labral Tear

I was training jiu jitsu and dislocated my left shoulder last week. I'm 22 years old, 190 lbs, very physically active (workout atleast 5 days a week) and i am in great health condition. I recently had an MRI done and consultation by two separate doctors. Both doctors agreed there was a labral tear and surgery needed to be performed; however, once the mri lab write-up arrived it indicated that there were no tears but rather many lesions, inflammation, sprains, and strains, and tendonitis. The final doctor ordered to cancel surgery, commence with a cortisone shot and continue with physical therapy twice a week for 6 weeks (than see where we stand from there). I however don't want to go through this therapy for 6 weeks and end up having to have surgery anyways if it is a tear in the first place. It was not a contrast MRI but rather just a basic one. the pain is almost unbearable and the codone they gave me is essentially useless at times. The image attached is of Volume GRE Axial

Received results from the MR Arthogram but will not have chance to concult with orthopedic surgeon until monday.

according to the written report from the mr arthogram the following is listed:

"There is a 2mm cleft filled with gadolinium within the anterior glenoid articular cartilage just posterior to the labral/cartilage interface. An oblique defect is seen coursing towards the center of the glenoid. Findings are compatible with small chondral defect. There is mild irregularity to the base of the adjacent glenoid labrum concerning for GLAD lesion. There is no adjacent capsular separation to suggest Bankart tear."

What exactly does this mean?? and how is it usually treated?

they scheduled me to PT for 6 weeks... all it does is hurt more and more... the cortisone shot allows me to have movement and somewhat kills the sharp pain but the dull pain ive had it with... i had my doctor schedule a 2nd mri with contrast this time so that we can be sure whats going on in there.... i want to avoid surgery as much as possible as i'm tryn to get back into summer shape after a been training for bodybuilding show for past 2 months....

Ya that's not alot of fun is it?  I have had a labral tear since  Dec 2006, and the biceps tendon sheath is torn as well.  It's been dislocated fully 19 more times since then.  I am currently waiting for the appointment with the 4th surgeon, which is not till May.  I think full recovery will be impossible at this point.  Hope you get it fixed up soon. Did they put the die in your arm for the MRI?  That shows the tear better, if there is one.
