Left Knee Surgery on Tibia

On July 24, 2008 I had surgery on my left tibia platuea bone. I injured it badly. I had 6 screws and a plate inserted in my left tibia. It's been almost 8 months since my surgery. And I still cain't walk right nor can  straighten out my leg all the way. I walk with a limp and my knee stays bent all the time. I am in severe pain all the time. I am not able to walk more than ablock because my left knee gives out. And my leg gets swollen badly. I can not stand for more than 10 minutes. I have asked my doctor why is my knee like this? And he says its always going to say like this. I don't understand I thought surgery was suppose to fix it, not make it worse. Now when you look at my left leg/knee it looks croocket and slanted. It doesn't look right.Does anyone know why it stayed like this? I would appreciate your help. Thanks

Ouch, you're having a rough time. 8 months!! that's a long time to be in pain + not being able to get on with your life.  being in a similar position - knocked down by a 4x4 on 8 dec 08, surgery left leg - six screws +plate. perhaps we can exchange notes, although i'm only 3 months post surgery.   my right leg isn't too good and to this end swim an hour a day 6 times a week in ordNr to get it working as much as possible.  Now this on my left leg - last week i was "upgraded" to crutches and actually managed the stairs - YEEHH.  feel selfish writing this and asking how you're doing and if you take painkillers etc etc - please be patient with me, although your patience is being tried.  how much physio do you do?  I sincerely hope you won't mind this post and look forward to hearing how you are coping.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
hi san antonio,
i agreed to what you said about surgery.Looks like you are suffering from post surgery stiffness (maybe due to poor rehabilitation or poor fixation problem).
I would like to see your x-rays (before and after surgery) also for more comments.

However, take a second opinion also, if you are not satisfied.
Poor counseling before surgery can be really problematic, especially for the doctor patient trust.

Upload the pics soon,
regards
