Numbness in Thumb and fingers after CTS surgery?

I never had carpal tunnel.  Last Sept of 2008, I fell on my left hand.  This caused CTS. Numbness in thumb and 4 fingers.  Was operated on March  2009.  I still have the numbness in thumb and fingers when I type or use it.  It does not hurt when not in use.  When I had the nerve test done in Feb of 2009 they said I had SEVERE Damage of CTS.  Will the numbness go away?  Or what can I expect in the future?  I hope it goes away.  My right hand is okay.

What nerve nourishment medicines does one take for carpal tunnel.  I hope the healing process will be good after 9 months.  I am so sick of this numbness in my fingers and thumb.  Does typing help keep the fingers moving thus causing less numbness. Thanks.
