I was an over the road driver until I had an accident. Simply put, I was cut off by the driver of a personal vehicle as to not impact their vehicle. When I did this, my co-driver came flying forward out of the back. I threw out my right arm and stopped him, but it hurt like heck, him being over 300 pounds.
To date, despite the months of physical therapy and even an arthroscopic surgery, I still experience diminished range of motion and pain. in most cases I can force myself to use the arm but as noted in my last FCE, the pain and tremors are noticeable to the observer. The results from the surgery yields these findings:
-Type 1 acromion
-glenohumeral articular surface pristine
-labrum and biceps pristine with "no sign of flap tear,a bicipital tear"
-rotator cuff intact, no sign of tear
-capsule intact, no sign of tear
-mild synovitis in rotator interval in anterior aspect
-posterior labrum intact
-subacromial space contained "thick, dense, irritated bursal tissue" which was debrided with a shaver and electrocautery.
The injury occurred Oct 2 2007. I have been to a few doctors and they cannot seem to get the issue taken care of. The medical doctors for the company cannot either, but claim I have reached MMI anyways...lol. Fine as far as Im concerned, but I want to get this issue resolved so I can get back to work. The most pain has been centered in an area on my arm, just below the shoulder joint itself about a 1/4 of the way back from the front of the arm. When I apply pressure to that spot, the pain from moving the arm is reduced a lot, but the range of motion does not increase. This is no change from before the surgery. I also have sharp pains stabbing down the arm, mostly going to the two fingers towards the outside of the hand. And an almost constant burning type of feeling in the same area listed before by my shoulder.
I have also tried cortizone injections for relief but they did not solve the issue.I can, if needed provide the finding from the surgery and from the FCE. I just want to find out what is going on and get it treated so I can get back to work. This is slowly driving Me nuts trying to figure it out and these four walls aren't helping much either.
As I stated before, my ROM is well reduced with or without pain. 120 Flexion and abduction, 40 extension, interior rotation to back pocket of same side and exterior rotation of 65. These are the absolute maximums that I can achieve at the present time and were taken at an FCE. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I need to get off these meds and back to work before I go totally insane here. Please, something to take to the doctors to check out. Anything. BTW, ROM in left shoulder is normal.
