Regarding Back pain

Hi

My Husband is having back pain.We have taken MRI..the result is--->Posterocentral and right paracentral herniation of L5 S1 disc compressing the s1 nerve roots more so on the right side.

Doctor asked him to take rest us well as physiotheraphy..but there is no improvement..
Now doctor asking us to go for surgery ....sugery is really  needed?

Thank u for ur advise. My husband  is maintaining normal BMI..he is  taking complete rest at home. Then also pain is not completely stopped.If he sits for 30 min continuesly,it starts paining.(almost 2 months over...still he is having pain)

Hello!

Go conservatively initially, tell you husband to maintain a normal BMI and adopt lifestyle changes to prevent any additional pressure to his spine while sleeping, working and sitting.

If the pain continues then he would need to talk with an orthopedician about surgery.
