Sagittal band rupture/Boxer's knuckle

Hi, I believe I have sagittal band rupture or boxer's knuckles on my middle and ring finger joints.

However, it's already been a week and I do not have limited range of motion, or strength, except when I try to resist flexion on my ring finger (the tendon just slips so I can't resist well).

I want to become a physical therapist in the future, which involves a lot of hand usage.

MUST I get a surgery? Can I live without it? Will there be problems in the future if I don't get it?

That's more info, but you'd be wise to get at least an xray. This may not be a soft tissue injury.

Good luck with your plans to become a PT, which is an honorable goal.

As to your hand, it sounds like you are making one of the first mistakes in medicine -- self diagnosis. For instance, how do you know your symptoms are not a result of RA?

Please consult with a professional for help with this.

Best wishes.
