Tib Fib 13 years later

I broke my tibia and fibula 13 years ago. The doctors put a metal rod inside my tibia and put a screw in the top and bottom of the bone. Ever since I haven't been able to run without a limp and over the last few months I've been having a lot of pain in the bottom of my foot when I stand up after sitting for any amount of time. The pain seems to go away after I walk a few minutes. I also have been having some pain in my knee. This has only been going on for a few weeks. I'm working in China and health care here is terrible. I don't have any confidence in the local doctors here and if you have any ideas or advice for my I'd appreciate it. Many people have told me that some pain is normal in healed broken bones. Do I just need to live with it or do I need to have it checked out?

What did you end up doing?  I've had my rod in for almost 6 years & it's hurting really bad now.  I should of got it out a year after the break when I got my screws out ugh!  Thanks for any info.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello!

I would suggest you to go for present day scan (X-rays and MRI) to diagnose for any problems.

If your healing is fine you can go for removing your hardware (screws and plate). Any good orthopedician will guide you for this. Alternatively you can visit any suitable country to get your problem fixed.

Take care!
