What causes left hip pain only when I first get up to walk?

I am 63 and about two weeks ago my left hip started hurting only when I first get up to walk. After walking about six to ten steps it stops hurting. What could cause this?

Hi vdeish, unfortunately your hip pain could be caused by a number of things and its difficult to rule them out based on the information we have. Have a look on youtube at a particular type of test we do called the Thomas Test. Let me know what your results are.
