My heart goes out to all of you who are suffering from pain (acute and chronic). If your Surgeon will not listen to your concerns or provide enough pain relief for you then please DO NOT hesitate to call your Insur Co. and find another Surgeon on your plan and get another opinion about your problem or about needing more pain medication. These Md's 1) forget they never have had the surgery and know what it feels like 2) forget as we age tolerance for pain decreases 3) success for increased activity and strength training equals pain relief and 4) they work for us and are replaceable. This is one time in your lives to stand up and make that call instead of suffering the rest of your life (and for what?) I'm a trauma RN and even our Doc's will tell you don't put up with it and they are mostly the one's with the reputation of having a Godly like attitude. SO DO IT. At least try and get a 2nd opinion. Please don't suffer.
So I have a question, my Mother who is 76, had a rt TKR last May 2011. Her only complaint is a burning sensation off to the right of her knee. It feels like "fire ants" biting her she states. No one else mentions this. I know what MD's state and my own opinion but I'm curious has anyone else out there experienced this problem off to the side of the knee or anywhere around the TKR gadget internally? Not burning on the incision site or skin topically. Thank you and Best of luck to you all. P.S. If you ever switch a doctor never leave on bad terms or complain to a new MD about the old one. Just state your case. You get further.
Hi! I had tib/fib fractures about 3 years ago & believe me it isn't an easy recovery.Although, from reading another post your injury didn't happen that long ago.Yes,you should be bending your knee but you should also be going to PT to get all your ROM going. Believe me,I know all of the aches & pains associated w/this injury but be reassured the rod is not rubbing the back of your knee & I recall feeling the head of every screw in my leg but until it's healed it's unfortunate that it's just something you have to deal with.I had all of my hardware removed after about 18 months.I had a real issue with swelling as well-I was loaned a Jobst (I think) pump which really seemed to help after awhile. All I can really say is to be patient, keep ice on hand & try to go to PT. Good luck to you. If you have any specific questions don't hesitate to ask.
