sudden pain during tkr rehab

Knee replaced 11-13-09.  Finally felt I've been making some progress until yesterday.  During therapy, performing lateral steps over 6" hurdles, I felt a sudden pain and kind of a pop on the interior medial aspect, a little toward the back of the knee.  During the course of the day, I would experience sudden pain causing me to yell out, even when non-weight bearing.  My wife appreciates this.  Increased pain yesterday, last night, and this morning when I turn, walk with a cane, and just sit.  Increased lateral motion and popping and clicking. Difficult to walk without pain again.  What's up???

Hi, I had a TKR in August 2011 and everything is fine except for the snap, crackle and pop at various times.  When it pops, there is a lot of momentary pain.  i'm seeing the surgeon tomorrow to determine the next course of action.  You are not alone.....

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello!

I would suggest you to apply ice packs and rest completely for a day without any physiotherapy and also take some anti inflammatory drugs. If the pain continues you would need an X-ray and a physical examination for diagnosis near your primary surgeon. You can continue active physical exercise after couple of days if everything is fine.

Take care!
