I recently have beed diagnosed with a tear in the rotator cuff but much more painful is the tear of the deltoid. I am an avid golfer and tennis player. two othorpedic surgerons said DO NOT have surgery and one says if I want my quality of life back to have the surgery. The pain is a 10 when there are certain  upper movements. I have been reading about hte surgeries and am not comfortable about the outcome of surgery. What can you suggest?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi, arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs cause minimal trauma to the tissues that surround the shoulder and the rotator cuff. Because of this patients have less damage to these nearby structures. Most important of these surrounding structures is the large deltoid muscle over the outside of the shoulder. Detachment of the deltoid is a potential problem and is avoided by the arthroscopic technique. Pain is bound to happen after any operation. As this operation is arthroscopic and the damage is minimal, the chances of reinjuring the shoulder during sleep are very less. The recovery occurs in a series of phases. Keep helping yourself with physical therapy. Bye
