I don't know much about the other conditions they are testing you for, but they seem to be even rarer than the possibilities of ovarian cancer.  It is possible that they will recommend some kind of surgery for the ovaries/cysts and are checking to see if anything else might need surgery (get it all done at once).  And like you said, it may all be just precautionary more than anything else.  I think we are all pessimistic when waiting for test results, and doctors tend to raise our fears more than necessary, probably to make sure we get something treated rather than ignoring it.

Thanks so much for your post, I am grateful you took the time- deep down I know about the caution issue and the tendancy to remove them anyway. However, I have not seen my specialist since the scan so as far as I am aware the image has not yet been evaluated  (solid or fluid filled) but I am not expecting a "no action" outcome, the best case scenario for me is that they remove them as a precaution and that there are no firm signs of any malignancy, that could have spread (I am a pessimist by nature) I just need to know.  I am having a vulva biopsy tomorrow, not really worried about that because I am convinced they are on the wrong track, they are wanting to rule it out because I have vitilgo and with the pigmentation changes and the itching they are ruling out cancer of the vulva.
Have you had these experiences ?

Most cysts are benign but in older women doctors are much more cautious when they occur.  It is possible that no matter how the cysts look you might get a recommendation to remove them with the ovaries. Did they describe what type of cysts they are and their size?
