COMPLEX OVARIAN CYST
After having a pelvic ultrasound, my DR. told me that I have a 2cm complex ovarian cyst on my right ovary. He said that 98% of the time they go away on their own. I am having another ultrasound in 1 month. I am a bit anxious and concerned about this. Has anyine had an experience with this?

I am a 51 year old. Back in late Jan. of this year I thought I had a yeast infection. I used some OTC antifungal creams. It didn't seem to work so I waited a couple days and used again. The next week in Feb.2, I went to GYN
She did a pH test, said the infection was bacteria not yeast, she gave me flagyl. I truly believe I have not been infection free since then. I was put on HRT for what they said was atropic vaginitis. I had diarrhea, was very gassy.a ct scan was done. It didn't show a ovarian cyst,this was in April. It hurt to sit or walk, my only relief was to lying or standing. Now an ultrasound showed a 5.6cm cyst on my lt. Ovary. They say it's a simple cyst. I changed GYN dr. In May, I didn't feel the other dr. Cared and they were doing nothing to help. In the first place I was told atropic vaginitis was my problem for all this pain with walking and sitting. Since I could not take HRT, I tried 3. The pills, vagifem, and Premarin cream, I ended up in the ER with a blood pressure of 160/100. I had never had any BP problems before. I thought I was having a heart attack. So it was decided that I couldn't take HRT. So my new doctor that I saw in May does the Mona Lisa touch procedure, it uses lasers in the vagina to treat the atropic vaginitis. I only had this done once. He did a pH test on me,before the procedure but didn't do a culture and senativate test for infection. A couple weeks after I was dx with a yeast infection treated for that then dx with a bacteria infection, then another. I just started feminine probiotics, I think they are helping. Anyway my dr. Want to do another ultrasound in 6weeks. But he also wants to do a D&C because I started bleeding, it lasted 5days, but i haven't had my period in 2 years, so this is abnormal. I'm afraid to get the D&C until after I test negative for anymore infections. I hope this cyst doesn't burst first. Has anyone else had all these problems?

Most ovarian cysts, even complex ones, are benign. Complex cysts sometimes go away on their own so monitoring via periodic ultrasounds MAY be an option. If you do not have a family history of ovarian cancerI, then your lifetime risk is less than 2%.
I understand the fear of surgery. I had the same fear when I developed a grapefruit sized (ended up being 9.5cm) cyst at age 49. But unfortunately, I was over-treated and harmed more than helped. My gynecologist should have removed just the cyst but instead he removed all my female organs (uterus, both ovaries, and tubes). I am still shocked how often this occurs especially in light of ALL the medical literature showing the LIFELONG non-reproductive functions of the uterus and ovaries. These organs work together a woman's whole life with the ovaries producing hormones into her 80's for optimal health and well-being.
These lifelong functions quickly became apparent to me as I aged horrifically fast overnight. My beautiful intact figure has also been destroyed even though I am still slightly underweight.
Please do your research and advocate for what is best for your health in light of the fact that only about 2% of hysterectomies and oophorectomies are done for a cancer diagnosis.

I was just diagnosed with a 6cm complex cyst. My doctor has referred me to a specialist and I have a consultation coming up. For the past two months I have had back to back periods within 10-14 days between and just before one of those I had sore breasts and I thought it seemed strange. My husband had a vasectomy about 8 years ago so I know there is absolutely no chance of pregnancy. I'm physically active and I work out a lot and my weight gain just seemed not the usual weight gain most people gain over the winter. I still stay very active even over the long winter months. I've never had any type of surgery and I had a text book pregnancy with our daughter so I am terrified!
I have a cyst on my left ovary. It's only 3 cm but I am only 93 lbs. My doc said my small size is whats causing me to have so much pain. A am sweating with the chills, hurts to bend over. My hysterectomy is scheduled for 15 days away. I called my dr office for a prescription and they said if they don't call back then they are not caliing it in. If they don't call, can I go to er? I wanna make sure nothing is wrong. I would appreciate the advice. I can barely move and I have two kids. I just don't wanna look like a baby when I walk into the er

Hi all, I had hysterectomy over 6 years ago and continued to grow cysts, mainly on my left ovary. After the last one had grown to 13.5 by 7 by 5 cm, and had bowel wrapped round that and the cyst I decided to have them removed. On the Ct, ultrasound and MRI scans my right overy couldn't be located. During surgery it was located with 2 large cysts on it.
My surgery was open, not lap, and took over 2 hrs, surgeon said my insides were all stuck together and I had excessive endermetriosis (sorry for spelling). Just less than 1 year later, 4 weeks ago I was admitted to hospital with suspected appendicitis, but ct scan found 3 new cysts. 2 are where my ovaries used to be and the 3rd is stuck to bladder and bowel. Each of them are around 6cms.
My surgeon told me last year that he was unable to remove a little piece of tissue on the right but not to worry, everything would be ok. Well, it's not. I am in chronic pain and after researching have come across ovarian remnant syndrome, which looks like I have at least 3 pieces of tissue left. There is no cure other than more surgery to remove this tissue. I am posting this for those of you waiting to have the ovaries removed, make sure the surgeon is sufficiently qualified to remove ever bit of ovarian tissue or you could find more problems in the future. Not sure if you have checked back to this. But I found out I may have endometriosis because of a lot of my symptoms and I also have stabbing pains, like you mentioned. My last post I said they think my left adnexal mass is a hemorrhagic cyst but because it hasn't gone away in over 3 years my gyno now thinks its possibly a dermoid. I'm looking into surgery.
