Complex ovarian cyst w/ septation and vascular flow

Hello.  43 yo female here.  In November I had an ultrasound done after having severe abd pain that almost sent me to the ER.  All that was seen were some small fibroids. But that was not new.  My doctor suspected a ruptured cyst but could not be certain.  He asked me to return in January for a repeat ultrasound.  At that appt they could not visualize my right ovary due to 2 complex cysts.  One is 3 cm that is filled with blood.  The other is 5 cm that is septated with vascular flow.  They were suprised that I was not having any pain. I reminded him that the pain usually starts after my period is over.  Which is going to be in a couple of days.  He did blood work which included tumor markers.  I go back in 2 weeks for the results.  Has anyone else had this same issue?  What was your outcome?  I'm anxious for a few things possible cancer, cyst rupture, and ovarian torsion.  Thank you in advance.

So sorry to hear you are going through this. I had a cyst that was troubling a few years ago. Honestly, the bleeding and the pain was surreal. Every period cycle, I was laid out. Then it passed and it was as painful as childbirth. I understand what you are going through. Remember that MOST complex ovarian cysts are NOT cancerous. They are just doing their due diligence to make sure which is what we want. But I'd expect that aspect to be negative. The septated cyst is probably more concern for malignancy but normally, it's not. I would imagine that they will be more aggressive with that cyst and want to possibly remove it. There are three types of complex cysts, so they will probably let you know about this too. Since this is either two or three cysts for you, they may begin talking about why too. My cause was hormonal. Have you ever been diagnosed with endometriosis? Just keep remembering that most ovarian cysts are benign. And a pain to deal with but not serious. Let me know what they are telling you. And for the record, after my bout of having that god awful cyst, I have not had another or any issues i that area. And it's been years.

Thank you.  I've not been diagnosed with endometriosis. The trumor markers were all negative with the exception of CA 19-9.  My gyn said that this test is very nonspecific.  He assured me that it's not ovarian cancer.  He has referred me to gyn/onc to discuss if they need to be removed.  That appt. is next week.  I'm curious to see if they are any bigger especially since the bigger one grew to 5cm in less than 2 months.
