Cyst causing unbearable pain

I am a 19 year old female with a complicated medical history. My most recent problem is causing me excruciating and debilitating pain. I've been to the ER twice in the past two days alone. A few nights ago I woke up with severe lower abdominal pain that resulted in me having to call 911. After an ultrasound at the hospital they found a cyst on my right ovary around 3cm big. I have a family history of ovarian cysts and my mother actually once had one more than twice the size of the one that I have. I was screaming and crying at the top of my lungs in agony and was given IV morphine, but that barely provided any relief. They didn't send me home with any pain medication either and just said to take ibuprofen, which hasn't helped at all. I'm still taking it every 4 hours anyway hoping that it might somehow help possible inflammation. I went back to the ER again yesterday and this time they gave me IV Fentanyl upon arrival, which has been the only thing so far that has made the pain  tolerable. They sent me home with a prescription of 5/325mg Percocet that I can take every 4 hours. I've also been using a heating pad. However, this is not helping nearly as much as I hoped it would. I've been in bed the entire day. It's so painful that it hurts to even get up to go to the bathroom. I haven't been able to take a shower either because it hurts too much to leave my bed. I'm lying in bed crying as I type this, because this should not be hurting this bad. I saw my OB/GYN this morning and she said I just have to wait for the cyst to go away on its own, and that there's nothing else anyone can do. I'm hesitant to ask for something stronger, I'm afraid they'll just outright refuse to give me anything else because of how strict doctors are now with prescribing narcotics. But I don't know what else to do. I don't know how I can make anyone take my pain seriously. This is becoming unbearable. Is there anything else I can do?

I totally get it, and I'm so so sorry. Treat yourself to some chocolate or ice cream right now, and hopefully my story will help a bit. Last week, I found out I had an ovarian cyst on the left side. I was literally unable to get out of my boyfriends bed, sit up, or even talk for hours at a time. All that came out of my mouth was shrieks of agony. I'm 17, and none of my friends have had this before, so I was terrified. Like, I swear I couldn't breath at some points. Anyways, I went to the ER, they found a cyst on my left ovary of about 5 cm, and my GYN told me that I was on the cusp of needing surgery- it was up to me. I'd never had surgery before and I'm freaked out my blades so I was really nervous, but my pain kinda convinced me. Anything to make it stop, right?!? Here's the kicker: after the surgery, my doctor told me that he couldn't believe I wasn't screaming more before the surgery because he found internal bleeding from the cyst that hadn't shown up in any tests or ultra sounds or anything. Anyways, I'm telling you this because sometimes doctors really can't tell. Maybe they won't give you the laparoscopic surgery, but it's definitely worth pushing. You never know what they don't know. I feel worlds better already, and haven't had intense stomach pains since. Anyways, I hope this helps, and I hope you feel better soon! Hang in there!

I feel for you! I wish I had some "words of wisdom" but I don't. Hopefully, this cyst will burst or shrink / resolve and you won't have to suffer too long. Please keep us posted.
