Finally home, quick update.

So I went in Wednesday morning, got admitted, found out they changed me from being in day care extended care, to same day admission and going a room. After talking with the dr, got in for surgery at 1130am. I got to recovery and woke up at 1:15pm, and of course had another panic attack, and moved and felt a whole lot more pain than when i had the laparoscopy last April. Once I settled I had to wait to go up to my room cause it wasnt ready... 3 hours later and I finally got in. It was a long time in hospital dealing with everything. Mostly it was dealing with other patients on my second day that made it so awful.

I had my catheter removed thursday afternoon, and my PCA was removed Friday morning. It was so nice to be off of the hydromorphone. I wasnt really using it. The worst part I really had was dealing with the nurses not noting things in my chart so when they had to turn up my drip for saline they never noted it during the day so at night when i needed gravol i had severe pain in my arm that lasted awhile because it wasnt being diluted like it should be. The night staff were amazing.

In the end he had to remove my ovary and fallopian tube. Im already battling the mood swings and hot flashes, cant wait to feel normal again. Over all my pain has been managable with just extra strength tylenol and motrin, have been just on that since Friday morning. Ice packs are my best friends still. They took the staples out today andjust surgical strips on it now.

So now i am off for 6 weeks at least, need to book an appt with the dr before it ends to make sure im clear to go back. Monday I'll be heading to the EI office to apply for Medical EI for the time being.

I've been told by the nurse that if my bleeding lasts for longer than 10 days i should go see my dr and get checked out. How long roughly did it last for you ladies if you got it? Mine started Thursday.

And how long for the "fullness" feeling and swelling to fully go down. i know it picks up when ive done too much, but so far things have been easy for me and ihavent had much discomfort.. until i cough or sneeze. Then its just painful.

With all the info I got here.. Ive been ready for this. And was prepared and have been pretty surprised by how i am so far.Hope it stays this easy!  Thanks again to you lovely ladies for all your help and advice.

When I have my appt with the dr ill be sure to ask how big the cyst was, but it was in the "meat" of the ovary and stretched it out too much that he was unable to safely remove the cyst without risk of hemmoraging.

Im trying to stick with not doing anything im not supoosed to, i find i get so frustrated not being allowed to do a lot... and i've still got a lot longer to go.

Hah yeah, if it hurts i dont do it.

I finally really slept last night, can never get a decent sleep in hospital. But I bought a body pillow so i can lay on my side. Best thing ever! At least it gets me off my back a little more.

Today, im not too sore, Im exhausted and could just sleep the day away.

I'm glad you're feeling ok!  I had my ovary/tube out on Jan. 20th and the feeling swollen/full feeling didn't go away until a couple days ago (so just short of 2 weeks) - I had a full laparotomy (cut from my belly button down to my c-section scar).   I've figured out that if it hurts I just don't do it lol  It took me a full week before I felt back to myself though (and not really tired and cranky with the hot flashes)
