Help on symptons after Laproscopy

Hi there,

Hope someone can help! i have been reading other posts and this is all so helpful! :)
I got out of hospital on Tues evening after having a 10cm cyst removed, ovarian drilling and a dye test.  I am in quite a bit of pain, and didnt quite expect how traumatic it was all going to be!
I am a little concerned about some swelling I have on my left outer vaginal lip, it huge and purple! has anyone else had this after sugery? its also tender to touch.  I'm not sure if its air that has escaped? any help would be appreciated x

If I'm not mistaken, I read on one of these posts that they insert an instrument vaginally in order to raise the uterus to give them more room while they're doing the laparoscopy.

Hi fran31,
I agree with ireneo.  You don't mention what kind of surgery you had (hysterectomy or just the cyst and/or ovary removed) or how it was done (laparoscopy or laparotomy).  It sounds as if you had a laparoscopy with something done vaginally.  That is so much easier on your body.  It's possible that one of the instruments bruised you.

Please call your doctor so that they can evaluate it, though.  If it is a cut you definitely don't want to get an infection.

Take care and let us know.

Thank you.  I wasnt aware that they did any surgery in that area, but when I have a closer look it appears there may be a small cut.  I'll have a chat with the doctor.

Many thanks for your response

Did they do any part of the surgery vaginally? It sounds like it might be a hematoma (a blood filled blister). If they were poking around vaginally, they may have caused a bit of subQ bleeding in that tender tissue. Usually hematomas clear up on their own like bruises but take longer and hurt more. If it continues to enlarge, call your doctor.
