I'm only 15 and have been getting LOTS of cysts for 2 years.

Am I too young to be getting Ovarian cysts? I get a LOT of them. I was diagnosed with them when I was 13 (they thought I had appendicitis, but it was cysts). I know doctors say most women get them, but can't feel them, but I can. And it doesn't matter when in my cycle, they come in between and during my period. A lot of them grow rather large, which is why I can feel them, and almost ALL of them burst. And the pain is excruciating. I can't even breathe when one bursts, and if its large enough, it brings me to tears. But the pain usually only lasts about 10-20 minutes. And my doctors continue to do absolutely NOTHING about it. I'll tell them whats going on, and they tell me that there are other girls in much more pain than I, and thats it. They don't do anything for me.

I get so many cysts per month, that I'm thinking maybe its not cysts. Could that be possible? When they grow larger, the pain is up higher, under my ribs. When one bursts, the pain starts way deep inside my abdomen (burning-like), and radiates up to my back.

Other than the million hundred cysts I get, my cycle is ok. Its kind of short, about 19 days. And when I get my period, its BAD!! I'm usually hunched over, and sometimes miss school because cramps are that bad. Last period I took 2000mg of Tylenol for it to go away. It also KILLS when I have a bowel movement during my period. My vagina hurts when I go.

So can anyone help? Or at least give me some input as to why I'm so young, yet getting so many cysts? And why my periods are so painful?

Thank you so much to anyone who can give me some advice!!

Hi Hun, I am so sorry that you have to go through this.  I too had very bad periods and had heavy bleeding and killer cramps.  I have a similar story as yours.  When I was 15 my parents rushed me to the ER thinking I had an appendicits, but it turned out to be a ruptured cyst and enlarged ovaries.  The other women are right, you need to see a gyn and have your mom go with you.  They doctor will do a pap smear to check out your ovaries and make sure you do not have any abnormal cervical cells.  Then he may want to try to put you on birth control to help to keep you from developing cysts.  There is also a conditon called Ploly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) where  you develope multiple cysts on your ovaries.  You may want to aske your gyn about that also.  PPhelps is right too when she said you have some of he symptoms of endometerosis.  It is just a really good idea to see a gyn as soon as you can.  They may give you some pain medication that you can take when you are having the really bad pains.  Please keep us posted on how you are doing.

Hugs,
Kasie

At your age  it would be very rare indeed  for more than 1 cyst to develope per cycle.  If this is as bad a problem,  as you seem to be saying, then take an adult woman with you for a pelvic exam and perhaps a Trans vaginal ultra sound. When a cyst ruptures, fluid is released into the abdomen and this causes some pain. Cysts develope from the outside of the ovary, when the egg is mature and ready for ovulation. Is it possible for you to have a Pelvic inflammatory disease? PID .  There is absolutly no way that you can have a "million hundred" cysts.  Take your Mother or another adult and go to a GYN.  Marty

You need to see a gyn regarding endometriosis. The painful periods, and the killing bowel movements sounds all to familiar. My gyn gave me RX of anaprox it worked wonderful to keep me in school. I use to miss one day a month because of my painful periods.  Make sure you see a gyn not just your family physician. Good Luck.
