Tumor and Left Ovary Removed 3/4/10

Hi.

I had a 12cm tumor removed as well as my left ovary. The tumor had wrapped itself around the ovary and strangled it basically. I'm completely recovered from the surgery which was 3/4/10. My question is that I have a problem and I don't know if it's normally or not. No one has mentioned it on here, so I need to ask. Before they realized that it was a tumor that was causing me pain, I also was experiencing leakage (pee). The Doctor said that could have been from the weight of the tumor pressing down on my bladder. It seems I always had to pee when I had the tumor (before it discovered). Anyway, now that I've recovered, I've noticed that I am numb above my bikini line where they did the surgery and below it. They also went in first through my belly button so I'm numb there as well. I'm wondering if it's possible to be numb inside as well. This is why I'm wondering. I'm still leaking abit, but I also don't get the urge to pee anymore. I mean of course I do pee, but I don't get the feeling to pee. I just know I have to go, so I go. I know this is weird, but I'm wondering if my surgery and the numbness is why I don't feel the urge to pee anymore. Any body experience anything like this.?I'm not sure if I should wait to see if the numbness goes away and then my urge to pee comes back, or I should tell the Doctor. I'd appreicate anyone's advise.
Thanks
Cyndie

This is not exactly the same thing, but I have had similar symptoms with my large cyst (not out yet).  Several months back, I felt like I always had to pee.  Then I noticed that I often did not feel the urge to pee, but had to go anyway.  Once my cyst was diagnosed, I put two and two together and figured that at one point the cyst must have been pushing against my bladder and then it must have shifted or something.  Very curious to see how it goes after it comes out on Thursday.

It is very normal to feel numb at the incision and perhaps a bit above and below it.  When they make the incision, they cut all of the nerves there, therefore, you don't feel anything when it is touched.  Eventually the feeling will come back when they nerves begin to heal.  As for the peeing, I am not sure.  If your cyst or ovary was attached to the bladder, that could be the cause.  You can always call your doctor and let him know what is going on.  If for nothing else, but for peace of mind.  Good luck!

hey,, i have never experienced this before but i think you should tell your doctor. it's been a bit too long since the surgery for you to be feeling this. contact your doctor and let him know whats going on. there is always a possibility that something went wrong during surgery and they didn't notice (not to scare you). my cousin recently had weight loss surgery and i know it isn't really relevant but the surgeon didn't close her stomach correctly and fluid leaked through her body and damaged every major organ. she passed in February. i hope i didn't scare you with what i had to say, i hope i did help in some way. im not a doctor or anything but this sounds kind of serious and i think you need medical attention because you never know whats going on inside. blessings to you.
