Hi -
I am an active, non-smoker, non-drinker 26 year old female. I have had no major medical issues in my life. January 6th (almost three months ago) I had a car accident - drove up a hill, across 4 lanes of the highway and crashed into a concrete barrier - due to a blackout.
I have numerous neurological and cardiological tests done and everything is completely normal. I then went to the GI doctor on recommendation from my cardiologist. They performed a CT scan, but the only thing they found was an ovarian cyst on my left ovary.
My OB-GYN now has the scan, but said that we have to wait until my next cycle to perform an ultrasound to see if the cyst goes away. Is that normal protocol? The nurse at the office said that having a cyst is normal and that I get one every month...? Why don't I have one on my right ovary if they are normal? I have always had irregular, extremely painful (usually the day before I end my period I spend about 1 hour - 1 1/2 hours in the bathroom bleeding, vomiting and experiencing diarrhea) periods, painful sex and really terrible hormonal mood swings when I have tried birth control.
Could all of my issues and my blackout(s) (I can safely say I had two - my wreck and on my couch the week before) be related to the cyst?
Also, the blackouts occurred the 5th day before my cycle and the day after I ended it.
