Ovarian cyst

I've been diagnosed with an ovarian cyst on my left ovary - in fact I'm having the left ovary and fallopian tube along with the cyst on the left ovary removed March 27th.
Has anyone else been thrrough this? Im in pain especially during ovulation.
I wish I didn't have to wait that long for the surgery.

Thanks,

Hi,
I'd imagine most all of us on the forum have been through the same thing so you're in good company. You didn't indicate on your profile your age, but I imagine the preservation of the ovary isn't an option.
Don't worry about the surgery... If it's a small cyst, it will probably be done via laparoscopy which is an outpatient procedure.. In and out of the hospital within 4-5 hours. If it's larger, you may need the laparotomy which is a bit more involved.
Why not check out the top right of this page "Health Pages." It has a lot of infomation on cysts.. and try not to worry.. they're very very common especially in younger women. It would be helpful to us if you filled out the rest of your profile .. the dx. and treatment are very different for older gals (post menopausal)..
    Take care,

Sandy

Hi, I had my right ovary and a dermoid cyst removed on 6th January.  I'm recovering well (I had open surgery rather than keyhole) and plan to return to work on Monday.

Try not to get too wound up while you wait for your surgery, hope all goes well for you.  Do you know what kind of cyst you have?
