I am sorry you had a hysterectomy and at such a young age. I have read that ovarian cysts are more common in women who had hysterectomies but if you have not had a problem with them until now, then I guess you have been lucky.
The blood test for ovarian cancer, CA-125, isn't all that accurate anyway so not sure it would be helpful.
I understand exactly what you are saying as I will never know if I really needed a hysterectomy at 24 and have suffered for years with my hormones. The only cancer in my family is bowel cancer so hopefully it will resolve itself. If it wasn't for the Radiologist asking if I had the blood test which I know they do to check ovarian cancer whilst he was doing the scan and then saying the ovary was bigger than it should be I wouldn't be worrying so much, but the dr should explain in April.
I hope things get better for you soon and thank you for taking the time to answer me .
It sounds like you may have a complex cyst. But it is not too large so it may still resolve on its own. If you do not have a family history of ovarian cancer then this cyst is likely to be benign (non-cancerous). Your doctor should be explaining it all to you.
I was over-treated for a benign complex cyst at age 49. My gynecologist should have removed just the cyst but instead he removed everything - both ovaries, uterus, and tubes. My health and quality of life have been suffering ever since.
