Stop vagifem because of post menopausal cyst?

Hi, I'm a 58 post menopausal woman and I just found out that I have a small cyst (1.6cm x 1 cm x .8 cm) on my left ovary from a transvaginal ultrasound ordered by my GP because of abdominal pain.  The interesting thing is, the pain was on my right side and the cyst is on my left side, which is another story.  Anyway, the radiologist recommended I wait 2-3 months and have a followup ultrasound.  I'm still waiting for the results of my CA-125 which I know will make the difference as to whether I should wait or not.  I've been trying to contact my gynecologist since yesterday to ask her if I should stop using my Vagifem because of the cyst (I faxed the results to her office), but I finally learned that she won't be in until Monday (today is Thursday).  I'm not taking any chances and I'll stop taking the Vagifem until I speak to her, but does anyone know if Vagifem is a risk factor if you have a post menopausal ovarian cyst?  Thank you!

Thank you for your response, MM.  I will stop taking the Vagifem until I talk to my doctor.  Actually, I'm also waiting for the results of a BRACAnalysis, so she may even suggest I stop until I get those  results.  Thanks again.

My doctor didn't think it mattered much if I continued using Estrogen creams or not.  It's not the same format as Vagifem, but same general idea.

I had just started using the cream, in fact, and the tiniest quantity, and then when the U/S results came back, I had serious second thoughts.  My doctor said not much is absorbed in the system, but if you feel breast tenderness, then some system absorption is taking place.  All the same, I freaked out enough that I stopped creams when my cyst was found.  My gyn did encourage me to go back to them once my ovaries were removed (along with my natural "estrogen factory"), mainly as an external topical treament where system absorption is highly unlikely.  Even my gyn uses it that way for herself!

If it worries you, quit it for awhile.  You can always go back to it when you know more about what you have and what the doctor recommends.  That cyst is really small but post menopausal ones always raise some alarm because it makes no sense why they would occur.
