dermoid cysts????

I was recently diagnosed with a dermoid cyst on my right ovary. The dr. said slim chance of it being cancerous. I'm scared. I have no insurance and no money for surgery. I am 44 yrs old, the cyst causes much pain. I just don't know what to do. My mother died from cancer, my father died of cancer; I don't want to die from cancer!

What procedure was used to remove it? Was it inpatient, outpatient? Did they put you to sleep? Was it uncomfortable?  Do you have insurance that covered it? If not how much did it cost? Wow, I am full of questions. Sorrry, I have never went through anything like this and I am scared!  Your info did help ease my nerves as far as the cancerous part, Thanks!!!

I had a LARGE dermoid cyst removed from my left ovary on 4/2/08 and all of the information I read prior to the surgery and that of the pathologist report post surgery indicated at 99% of dermoid cysts are not dangerous/cancerous. Hope this helps ease the nerves.

I have an appt tomorrow at our local health dept. That is where I have to start to see if I qualify for some emergency state assistance. The health dept told me today , over the phone, that I should not get my hopes up as far as being able to receive assistance. The criteria to be approved is having cervical or breast cancer. I will keep my appt. and see what happens, my fingers are crossed!!!!!!!!
