Symptoms?

I have a couple of questions to ask you wise women of the ovarian cyst community.  I have been scheduled to have surgery on April 12 to have my rt ovary (with attached 4.8 cm cyst) and fallopian tube removed.  At the same time the doctor will also perform an ablation (sp?) due to a uterine polyp and subsequent crazy periods.  My surgery was originally scheduled for May 11, during this "larger" surgery the doctor was to assess the need for and perform a hysterectomy (because of symptoms and pain likely caused by endometriosis) if appropriate. I am glad for this shorter time frame even if it means I will need a hysterectomy at a later date-I just want the cyst OUT!  I have been experiencing an ongoing dull ache in the area of my rt ovary-it feels almost like a mild cramp.  This is relatively new-maybe the last week or two.  I'm not sure if it is psychosomatic or if it indicates the cyst is growing or changing in some way.  I have also been spotting preety much daily since my last period which was two weeks ago.  Has anyone else had the spotting issue or the perpetual dull ache?  Also I am concerned that I will be having my period on the day of my surgery.  Do you know whether this will prevent the the doctor from doing the ablation?  Thanks so much for any info you can provide!

Thanks so much....I am 44 y.o. and have also been in quite a bit of pain-not knowing the cause exactly but guessing it was IBS or something of the sort.  Then in Oct '09 I was dx with the cyst and a whole host of other gynocological probs were discovered.  Though I do not have a firm dx of endometriosis it is suspected because of my symptoms.  My surgeon is going to survey the "scene" and we will decide what to do.  Perhaps the cyst and ovary removal will make a difference---I sure hope so.

Hello, I also had a right ovarian cyst removed on March 10. They also did a D & C and Endometrial Ablation. I had been bleeding for weeks and endured alot of pain before the surgery. Since then I am great, no bleeding now and feel like I am back to my self again. Have you had a TVUS done that would show endometriosis? Having a hysterectomy done is major surgery and a longer period of recovery is needed. Plus you go into menopause, and that is challenging too. How old are you? You should also talk with you surgeon before if you have any questions, I went to see my Surgeon and he answered everything. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

I had a laproscopic procedure done to remove a cyst, turns out that I had a polyp in my uterus as well and was bleeding a lot so my gyno did an ablation. Both my gyno and myself were unaware until she did surgery. She said that my ovary is wrapped around my intestines so I will be needing a hysterectomy soon. I would ask your doc during your pre-op appt any questions or concerns that you have as you only get one chance once they do the surgery it is what it is. Good Luck to you best wishes...
