In that case, I would go to the clinic. The radiologist's reading will be a good second check. It sounds like you have some concerns about your gyn and I understand that. If they are dismissive, it is frustrating and they aren't always right. So, I do hope you can find some answers soon! Let us know how it goes! :)

Thanks Shelly. Unfortunately my GYN is never in the office location I go to on the same day as the u/s tech. The practice has two offices and one is too far. I like your info though.
Either one should be fine. My gyn always did my ultrasounds. He is the one who found my cancer. Since gyns are experienced surgeons and see many gyn issues, they know what they are looking for on a scan. Also, he can read it while you are on the table and you will get your results right away. One other advantage is that they can decide to spend more time in a particular area versus following a standard procedure. This is especially helpful if you have a mass and they are trying to determine the contents of the tumor.
If you have it done at the medical center, you will have to wait a day or two until the report is sent to your doctor until you get any results. The tech will perform a standard scan and won't tell you the results as you are getting the scan. The tech is trained in many areas for us (not just gyn) and you will get a general reading rather than a personalized scan.
Usually, fibroids should be ignored unless they are very large or causing bothersome symptoms. Personally, I would go with having the gyn do the scan. I always preferred to have my results and be able to ask questions while on the table. But, either way the us will be effective in picking up masses. It truly is a personal choice. Good luck to you!
