What do you do?

My daughter is going through most of this that all of you are talking about.  Thank God I came upon this site.  My daughter was diagnosed with endometriosis about 3 1/2 years ago.  We have been through 2 surgeries and lupron shots.  Her last surgery was June 2009. She is 22 years old going on 23.  It is back and she is in pain. Is there places it can be without seeing it?

Well new problem now... I had her to ER last Sunday and now she is diagnosed with a hemorrhagic cyst and is in dire pain.   She is to finally see a specialist 2 hours away, but not till October 1st.  They don't want to give her pain medicine - they think she will get hooked on it being young.  They will give it to her and then take her off.  Motrin, naproxin, nothing seems to help.   My mother died of Ovarian Cancer in 1999 and this scares me totally.  Some days I wonder if she is really hooked on the percoset or the pain is that bad and from what I gather from you ladies.. this is extremely painful.  She is to go to a pain management doctor and at this point we still don't have an appt there.  There are not booking till November/December.  What is the matter with our doctors anymore ... do they not care???

She finally sees her gyno tomorrow ... wish me luck.

Well.. it has been close to a month.  We have now been to a specialist two hours away but at least helping.  They are sending her to pain management, urology, and gi to make sure there is no underlying problems.  So far, her bladder is fine and pain management would like to help with a drug called Neurotin.  It is actually used for prevent seizures and treat painful nerve diseases such as endo.

She will start lupron again on Friday or Monday when we can make the 2 hour trip and get her back by noon to get to work.  What's a mother to do except get up early and go!!  This doctor at least said she would make her as comfortable as can be when on the lupron.  Last time she had sweats that she would soak her bed almost like peeing it!  She was put on premarin, but that didn't work.  Her fiance said if she wants to get pregnant after this bout with lupron, they can go ahead and try, but being 22 going on 23 I know she is old enough.. but... what are you to do again!

Still don't know until November if her cyst has grown or disappeared.  Thanks all for talking with me!!!

Well, we had our first appt to a specialist.  She did an internal ultrasound.  She still has the cyst on her left ovary.  It is 4.5 cm or she said about the size of a plum right now.  She didn't seem to be real concerned with it at this time, but we will keep monitoring it.

She was a little concened with her bladder.  She made her empty her bladder to do the internal.  When she first went in, she was at the bladder and it looked like it was still full.  She said that sometimes when dr's know you have endometriosis, they blame everything on it.  She wants her to have 3 consultations at Hershey.  One for urology, one for GI and one pain management.  She said at pain management, it is possible to do a nerve block.  She said something about her bladder could be pressing on something if it is enlarged for some reason.

She did suggest for her to go back on lupron though, and she would be able to help with the night sweats etc., because the last time, this girl suffered with all menapausal symptons.  She said she wouldn't let her go like that.

So maybe we are on the journey to a solution!!!  Still worrys me about that cyst.  I know it didn't seem to bother the dr., but it does me.  That seems big, but I guess not.

I'm surprised they had you wait that long.  I know the pain can be very bad.  Here's hoping it's not ovarian cancer.

The only time I had extreme pain was when the cysts would rupture. I never used pain pills except for after my laparoscopy to have my Rt. ovary removed. I did use pain pills and muscle relaxers for about 2 wks because the gas or whatever they use got trapped in my back instead of releasing itself. Now that hurt really bad but if I was resting I was fine. I have pain occasionally now but very rare and not enough to use pain pills. I have 2 kids though so I try not to use anything unless necessary. With ovarian cancer running in your family though I would think they would have checked that first normally with surgery they will check for it then. They did me.

She did not do a thing for her except tell her to take ibuprofin!  We are to see a specialist on October 1st two hours away.  I called immediately after this appointment and said she is really having problems and they are getting us in Tuesday.  Why doesn't anyone care anymore?

My mother got the run around for 6 months before we took her two hours away and they diagnosed her immediately with ovarian cancer and guess what - stage 4.  We lost her in 3 1/2 months!
