can a bowel obstruction be detected when removing ovary

I am having surgery June 4th and was wondering if there is a bowel or intestinal obstruction will the doctor be able to see it. I feel like my constipation may be caused by a bowel obstruction, also sometimes the only thing that comes out is mucus. (yuk!)

So sorry you are in such pain.  I do hope they can move forward with the surgery and that all will be OK for you.  I'm thinking of you and wishing you all the best.

I just got a call from my doctor. Now they want me to crawl back into their office today and have another transvaginal ultrsound to make sure the mass was only bowel. My pelvic is cramping, my lower back is hurting so bad, but I guess I will go. I'm afraid they will cancel my surgery for tomorrow. I can't live with this pain another day! I did 2 laxatives yesterday to make sure I was cleaned out, it did not help the pain one bit.

Hi ,
I agree with Trudie , that cyst could most certainly be putting pressure on your bowel and cause constipation.
Good luck with your surgery on the 4th.

Best wishes Angie

Hi there.  Constipation can be caused by your cyst putting pressure on your intestine so hopefully after surgery that problem will be gone.  Usually with a bowel obstruction you will end up getting watery stools since that is all that can come through.  Mucus can be caused by a colitis or sometimes IBS.  Do mention your symptoms to your doctor so he can be aware.

I've had many intestinal problems and surgeries over the years and because of my gyn's worry in that area he is taking a general surgeon in with him to deal with any bowel related areas that may arise.

All the best,
Trudie
