Laparotomy or treatment?

I was just advised that I have a cysts about the size of a jumbo gum ball. I have had a partial hysteromy already, but my doctor has put me on birthcontrol for 8 weeks unless I have worst pain. He's advised me of having the laparptomy surgery. Should I just go ahead and have the surgery instead of praying it'll be reduce and finally gone?

Hola fungirl, I too agree to wait, we'll just spend time together; anyway there's still much to do with all her things. I'm glad I found this chat community:)

I'm so sorry for the loss of your mother-in-law.  I think you are doing the right thing by trying the birth control pill.  I am praying that it will help you.  If you have tried it for 8 weeks and the cyst is still there or larger, than you can consider the surgery.  It sounds like you and your husband could both use a bit of a break.  We are here for you anytime you need us.  Good luck!!

Hola, I have no idea what type of cyst, I just had a tunnel vision when my doctor held his hand up and showing me with his fingers the approx size.  He wanted to perform surgery but I decide against it at this time, for the sole purpose of not wanting to put my husband thru this.  I just lost my mother-n-law resently and I know mentally my husband would surely hit depression. I have very much faith in my doctor, he has perform other surgeries and know my body well.  I do have a high tolerance for pain, once I really thought to have my right ovary flaring and of course the little burst BUT I was so wrong.  I finally ended up in the ER about 2am after 24 hours of PAIN, shortly after having emergency appendectomy. So, this time when my right ovary started with having presser, I went to see my doctor which he did see a small cyst but nothing to be concern because I began menopause.  My presser recently got worst but for the pass 8 months my ill mother-n-law moved in and all our focus was her.  I began with pain the last few days of her life while in the hospital but didn't mention it to my husband, just seeing him hurt about her I kept quiet about me.  I'm gonna try just a few weeks my med's and if no change, go ahead and opt for surgery. Thx for listening:)

Hi, i think this depends on the amount of pain your are experiencing and what type of cyst you have . If you try with the birth control pills and it shrinks then you have not put yourself through the surgery. If after this time it still is as before then consider the surgery. This is just my opinion. I watched and waited for nearly 6 mths all together and then had surgery, but wished i had had it before but went along with my consultant, we are all different and have to listen to our own bodies and go with what you feel is best for you. Take care x
