Hi,
I had Laparatomy 3 weeks ago. I was advised not to lift, pull or push anything more than 5 lbs for the first 4 weeks. Driving is not allowed for the first 2 weeks. However, i think listening to your body is the key. Everybody is healing at different pace. Until now, i still can not lift a cooking pan or do dishes more than 5 mins without feeling any pain in my incision.
Hi,
I, on the other hand, had a laparoscopy .. could not drive for 2 weeks ...could not lift anything for about the same amount of time. . Was told to avoid heavy duty housework, lifting and stretching aren't comfortable anyway.. (leave the tub for another time) I was back to routine very quickly although it was uncomfortable to sleep on my side or reach down.I had my stitches (3 little incisions) out in 1 week. I wore regular clothes and felt fine..But.....it takes a little longer to heal internally so don't rush anything...
Good luck and let us know how it goes,
Sandy
Did you have laparoscopic surgery or a laparotomy? I'm not sure if the date of your surgery is Sept. 10 or Oct. 9. I had a laparotomy and could not lift anything over 10 lbs. for 8 weeks and I was to avoid vacuuming and sweeping. My doctor did not allow me to drive for 4 weeks. I was able to cook and do dishes after two weeks. Ironing shouldn't be a problem.
