related pain for ovarian cysts

I have been diagnosed with a 4cm clear ovarian cyst on my left ovary and a 6cm partially clear and partial tumor (most likely benign I've been told) and am awaiting surgery.  Can anyone please tell me whether it's at all relevant that I have been having pain from my shoulder, through my next and up into my head and ear on the same side of the bigger cyst? It's not like anything i've ever had before and have done nothing to bring on this really unusual and quite debilitating pain. Should I get it looked at by my GP or mention it to my gynaecologis?  Thanks Hellen

I have only heard of shoulder and upper body pain after surgery because of the CO2 gas they use in surgery, some of which is still trapped in the body and has to resolve.  I would mention the pain to whichever doctor you see because it might be something else.

I've had a lot of right side shoulder/neck pain also.  I'm thinking that mine is from trapped gas (my cyst has caused a lot of gastro issues).  I didn't make the connection until I  read that trapped gas is almost always referred through the right shoulder.    Could your pain possibly be the same?
