I've had a cyst of 6cm which as grown to 7cm over the past 10 months. Doctors have said it is not dangerous and are not concerned it could be more than a cyst. I can understand how you feel though as it is worrying and I sometimes wonder if they may have missed something because of the pain I get. Up until now they have been very reluctant to give me surgery but after last scan it shows it has increased with no signs of disappearing so they have decided its now time for surgery. With hindsight I would have pressed for surgery earlier as my quality of life has been low this past 10 months. My symptoms vary from discomfort to severe pain and has meant time off work, able to do very little walking or other exercise and inability to have sexual intercourse. Even though initially I was scared at the thought of surgery I have decided I have had enough and need to back to a normal life so hoping surgery will fix things! Good luck and hoping things will get better soon for you.
The changes in size or shape don't have anything to do with the type it's simple because it contains only fluid, and complex contains solids like blood or other tissues. Now if solids or debris were found in it then that would change the type. That is a fairly large cyst and I'm sure it's extremely uncomfortable and painful. Are you taking birth control to help prevent cyst formation? Good luck over the next couple months I hope it goes away so you don't have to have surgery. Best wishes BB
If it was truly a simple cyst from the beginning, then it still is. Cysts do not change into cancer. They are cancer from the beginning or they are not. Complex cysts can have cancer within them along with benign features, making these cysts very hard to understand without surgery.
More than likely it is a fluid filled cyst that stubbornly won't go away. If it is lowering your quality of life in any way, then surgery to remove it would be worthwhile.
