am thinking of you Chris, this waiting time is so hard. even when you have the Ca 125 blood test u wait again for the results and as you will read on previous advise these are not always reliable as they can be elevated by endo. and i think even  by cysts. anyway i am off to the hospital now will keep u posted and remember the 95% benign.
take care

Here's a link from another site that should make you feel a lot better. There are several types of ovarian cysts and some of them can grow very large. Your gp needs to just refer you to a gyn to make the correct dx about the type of cyst you have and then to give you the recommendations regarding your treatment plan.
95% of ovarian cyst are benign as ally states in the post above.
Have you had a TV/US and a Cat Scan done? A Ca-125 blood test can be done but they aren't that accurate for pre-menopausal woman and can give false positive results from other conditions.  These tests will help determine the kind of cyst you have. There is information on the health pages on the top right of the cyst forum about different kinds of cyst for you to read. Calm down and don't let you gp freak you out. You'd be surprised how many doctors open their mouths without knowing what their talking about.
When you talk to the gyn, ask about having a consult with a gyn/ onc to get a second opinion.
Here's a link to a site that talks about the sizes of ovarian cysts that will make you feel better, maybe you should print it out and send it to your GP.

i am goin in to surgery tomorrow and was only actually told last week that i have a cyst on my ovary that is 12.5 x 9.5 x 6.5cm. this has a solid area in it that is 3.4cm. it is i have learnt from this site a complex cyst. i have also read of people having cysts that were 20 odd cm, and 95 % are benign. there is no point in saying don't worry as until i have the results of my pathology report post surgery i can not relax but i know the odds are so in our favour.
there are alot of people on this site that will reply and have such a wealth of information but i hope i have offered a little reassurance.
take care alison xx
