wheezing one week post op......

hi ladies,
i had a 10cm cyst removed a week and a bit ago via laparotomy.all is going well,but just as i was beging to feel myself i have started coughing a wheezing,the wheezing feels more chesty and not in my throat,is this related to my operation??? should i make an appointment at the docs???

glad you're feeling better...wow, there's all KINDS of stuff that goes along with this cyst crap, isn't there?

hii,i think what it was just a build up of phlem and stuff that i cudnt cough up because of the operation,but now my stomach muscles are gettin stronger again i have manged to get it all outi feel loads better now and the wheezing has gone.

I think getting an appointment with your doctor is a good idea.  It could be from the anesthesia, or it could be a common cold setting in.  Continue to keep doing your deep breathing exercises until you can get into see your doctor.  Please keep us updated on how you are doing.

i didnt have anything to blow into but they told me to do deep breathing exercises (which i did).i will ring my doc tomorrow and have them listen.thanx x

Fluid can build up in the lungs from the surgery/anesthesia.  It can lead to pneumonia.  Often a patient is given some kind of device to blow into which helps to clear lungs and this is done very shortly after the patient comes out of recovery, repeated on some kind of schedule (hourly? every half hour?)  Do you recall anything like this?

You might want to get your lungs checked by a doctor.
