1/2 of my tongue is numb

about a month ago I came down with something that was treated as flu (thought i came up negative on the flu screen). My only symptom was high fever (~102.5).  I treated the feaver aggressively becaues I was in Jamaica on a business trip (Motrin + Tylenol every 4 hours, and took Tamaflu).  After a week it moved to my chest and about 14 days in, it was diagnosed as Phneuonia.  After 8 days on avelox my tongue swole up. They changed me to another antiobiotic, and sent me off to an ENT who did an EMI of my head. He said that the problem with my tongue appeard to be nerve damage because the left side of my tongue was unresponsive when I tried to move it.

What could cause this?  I did have a very bad migrane the day before I began to notice symptoms, could it be realted to that?

Yes, they did perscribe ADVAIR.  Could be responsible for swelling but prob. not the loss of muscle control.

I was just curious, when u were diagnosed with Phneumonia, were you put on any kind of inhaler like ADVAIR ?? The reason im wondering is because alot of times certain inhalers will mess with your tongue such as making it numb and swollen, making it wierd colors, or sometimes even ooze out puss and phlem, A few of the inhalers that will do this unless you rinse your mouth out after every actuation are, Combivent, Flovent, ADVAIR or even some nose sprays that hit the back of your tongue. Let me know...Peace!
