After 17 years my doctor suddenly cut me off cold turkey

Both my husband and I have been prescribed oxycontin for 17 years.  Me for permanent spinal cord injury and my husband for severe neck and back injury.  Our Dr suddenly cut us cold turkey off 40mg 2x daily.  The only thing he gave us for help is clonidine.  We are both in our mid and uppér 60s in age with issues.  I live in remote area and there is no close detox or help nearby.  I am scared to death for both of us and hoping for suggestions .

If you and your husband can safely get to medical help -- like a hospital, and stay there. Once you're there, don't "diagnose yourself" to the doctors; rather, tell them how horrible and shaky you feel and you don't think you can get back home. I think all the major hospitals have a big sign on the wall talking about how much they "care" and won't turn anyone away...  Let them take care of you.
