Been having MANY problems.

Hi Everyone -

I'm SO sorry that I haven't been able to be on very much in the past few days, BUT I've been EXTREMELY tired and have actually been falling asleep when I would sit down and start to type.  SO I just sort of gave up. :(

I went to my (alternate) PCP yesterday to get my Pre-Op testing done so that I could get my Release for my Surgery on September 8th.  HOWEVER, I ran into SEVERAL roadblocks and she wouldn't clear me to have surgery!!

I don't know if you all remember but in the Spring i was having a TERRIBLE time getting rid of an E-Coli Urinary Tract infection.  My PCP went so far as to have an Abdominal CT Scan performed and FORTUNATELY that turned out to be Normal!!  :)   Well, to be cleared for Surgery they require SEVERAL tests to be run and then my (alternate)
PCP thru in a few of her own such as a Chest x-ray and a Urine specimen.

Well, as you may (or may NOT) know, My Autistic Granddaughter has Strep Throat (diagnosed this past Saturday morning) and has had a Stuffy Nose for a couple of weeks.  ALSO, as you all know, I do most of the Care-Taking of her and so am around her Constantly. Well, I was chalking up the tiredness and the just GENERALLY not feeling well to BEGINNING to come down with a cold or POSSIBLY the beginning of Bronchitis (as I have Chronic Bronchitis).  Also the beginning of being short of breath!

When the (alternate) PCP did the Urine Test yesterday, she let me know that I had a Probable Bladder infection and she was sending it out to get a culture done.  I'd been feeling a little "strange" down there BUT I was chalking it up to my hip moving around so much lately and REALLY didn't think much about the possibility of having ANOTHER - or even the SAME infection - still lurking about.  She believes that it is PROBABLY the SAME infection that just NEVER completely cleared up.  This explains the way that I have been feeling lately.

I thought is was the fact that I hadn't been getting enough sleep lately - BUT when I was talking to My BEST FRIEND (actually she's like the Little Sister that I NEVER had :)  ) - she pointed out how the past few days whenever we would talk, how she has been inquiring how I'm feeling as I hadn't been sounding like I felt very good at all lately.  This infection, it turns out, has been the culprit ALL along!!!  It's funny how the people that are the CLOSEST to you can ALWAYS se something when YOU can't see it yourself!!   I've noticed how MANY of you on MH have been able to do that with me ALSO!!!  Thank you ALL.

We are at the WAITING stage right now - waiting to see what the EXACT Infection is - so that it can be treated with the CORRECT ATB's.  Hopefully, they can get it cleared up BEFORE the Surgery - because IF they can't then there will be NO Surgery.  The reason for this is the fact that they have to use a Catheter and that ALONE may cause an infection!!!

The OTHER drawback was my EKG.  It turned out to be "abnormal" and therefore I'm having to go to my own Cardiologist on Friday to be retested.  I'm HOPING and Praying that the abnormality turns out to be because of the Heart Attack that I've experienced in the past!!  ALWAYS keep a POSITIVE thought!!!  So I'm "counting" on being able to be cleared with the EKG on Friday!!

I HOPE that you all will PLEASE keep me in your Thoughts and Prayers - ONCE AGAIN!!!  It seems that I've asked a LOT from you all lately and I TRULY appreciate you all being there for me.  This surgery is SO important and the LONGER that I have to wait the MORE damage can be done to my hip bone.

I'm SO SORRY that I haven't been able to be on the boards but I will attempt to be there more often as I'm SURE that I will start to feel better when I'm able to get some antibiotics into my system.  I'm HOPING that I WON'T have to take the SAME ATB's that made me so ILL last time.  Unfortunately - they MAY be the ones that I HVE to take as they are what WORKS for an E-Coli infection!!  IF so that will mean NO BT meds for me.

Thank you all for caring........Mama Sherry

Hi Sara,

W-E-L-L, Today I went and had an X-ray of my lungs as my (Alternate) PCP decided that since I have Chronic Bronchitis with underlying Asthma that it would be best to have the chest x-ray also - just HOPE that THIS test comes out without a "Glitch".  LOL

I'm still very tired because they don't have the culture back from the UA so I have to wait to begin the ATB's to be sure that we have the correct one for the Infection.  This  has made it INCREASINGLY nerve wracking.  IF she had just said "No problem - Your Cleared for the Surgery" I wouldn't be so Nervous.  It REALLY scares me that they might push this surgery back as this Surgeon is EXTREMELY busy and BOOKED UP ans I don't know how they handle it when a Surgery Patient has to push the surgery back because of an infection or a problem with an EKG.  Do they "Make" a place for you - Do they reschedule someone else to make room for your surgery when a hip joint is going in and out - Not knowing is TERRIBLE!!  I've NEVER had to go through ANYTHING like this before - So I guess it's ONLY FAIR that I should experience it at least "ONCE" in my lifetime.  :(  I'm SCARED that IF I have to reschedule that it would be AT LEAST another month out and WHAT will happen since my hip is so Crirically Loose NOW????

Sara - I'm sorry - it's NOT like me to be SOOOO DOWN about this.  I think I'm just so frightened that "fix" to my hip could be ripped away from me and I've done NOTHING wrong except  choose the WRONG surgeon 3 years ago!!

You know - I think I've been "thinking" TOO MUCH!!  :)  I'm sorry guys - I think I just needed to get it out and then MAYBE I can return to my POSITIVE Thinking that I ALWAYS do!!

Thanks for letting me Vemt this morning. Thanks  for LISTENING AGAIN!!..Mama Sherry

Our Dear Sherry.

You know that you are in my thoughts and prayers always. I have been very concerned for you these last few weeks. You over extend far too much. You're frequently giving to your dear granddaughter, family and us at the expense of your health.

The surgery time is fast approaching. If everything goes well there should be time to clear up your UTI and possible Bronchitis. But here is no time to delay. You must go into surgery healthy and without a hint of infection in your system. You know from past experiences that it can take many weeks to completely clear a nasty UTI. So do as your physicians tell you  to do....I know you will. You're a smart young lady with a heart bigger than yourself.

As we discussed, your EKG could be showing residual changes from your past cardiac issues. Let's wait and see what the cardiologist has to say. And be sure to let the board know how the results of that appointment. It's obvious how much we all care about you. You are always there for everyone....now let us be there for you.

Get some much needed rest and be very good to yourself. This upcoming surgery is very important so take care.  We'll chat soon.

Blessings,
~Tuck

Oh Sherry, I'm so sorry.  I was hoping that you weren't on because your granddaughter had your laptop.  Sometimes things just don't seem to go right. (Maybe cosmic revenge for the abuse we inflicted on our bodies in our younger years!)

I do so hope that everything comes out OK.  Your UTI will be treated.  You know that.  I do remember when this first happened.  And your cardiologist will get the EKG straightened out.  Things will work out  This is just a few roadblocks to keep life interesting.  However, I'm sure you'd prefer a little boredom at this point.

YOU REST!!  And take care of yourself.  You need it.  BIG HUGE MEGA HUGS!!!!!

We've spoken by phone already but wanted to give you my love, thoughts and prayers again for what I hope is a very speedy recovery for the UTI and that I'll keep my fingers crossed about the EKG.

Love you,

Karen

Mama Sherry!!!  With all the prayers that will be said for you, I'm sure you'll be over this in no time, BUT you are going to HAVE to rest more than you do.  Infections that linger can really wear you down and sometimes it's so gradual you don't even realize how worn out you are.

I hope your EKG turns out okay.  My EKG is always abnormal due to my last pregnancy was high risk but we didn't know it and I ended up with an enlarged heart.  Not much to do about it at this point but watch it (and I have a leaky aortic valve.)  My surgeries have always been able to go forward despite the abnormal EKG, and I'm sure they just want to be very thorough.

Rest up as much as you can!!!

Love you loads!

I'm so sorry you've been feeling so lousy and that your pre-op testing hasn't gone so well.  I truly hope they can get everything cleared up before your surgery date so you don't have to postpone.  I know how much you've been waiting for this surgery and NEED it so desperately.

And there you were, checking on ME!!  PLEASE, PLEASE do take care of YOURSELF and get as much rest as you can.  Believe me, we all understand when one of us is not up to being on the forum.  You need to take time out to care for YOU!!

Thank you Guys!!!  You ALWAYS have a way of Brightening a Day for me!!!

Jaybay - Trust me - This "tough old broad" is doing her BEST to continuing to "keep on doing it"!!!!   Sometime, it gets kinda hard.  :(   BUT you ALWAYS make me laugh and I thank you so VERY much for that!!!

Jaded - I hope that I can start to feel better REALLY soon also.  THIS time it's IMPERATIVE that I'm able to pull this off and get OVER thiese 2 "BUMPS" in the road as I NEED this surgery MORE than I've EVER needed one (with the exception of my heart problems) before!!

Flower - I'm so GRATEFUL to you for your Undying support!! Whenever I need a "little" boost you are ALWAYS right there along with everyone!!!!  Thank you for you sweet PM!!!!

Sending you all ((((HUGS!!))))..........Mama

Oh, Mama Sherry, I am SO sorry you've been feeling so bad!  I know how much those bladder infections can knock you out of things.  I don't really always know when I have one, either, so don't worry about not realizing you had it.  I hope that you feel SO much better once you get some of the antibiotics in your system.  It will also help you not get the strep throat infection.  I was somewhat worried about that, but I know that when you're a caregiver there's nothing we can do other than practice cleanliness and get our sick little ones better.
I'm a little worried for you about the EKG, but I am hoping and praying it is just what you and Jaybay said and you are really okay.
You ARE a tough lady.  You do such a great job taking care of your grand-daughter and dealing with your own pain while supporting us as we deal with ours.  You are so sweet, but I know you have the strength of a bull-dog when you want it.
I hope that you are feeling better soon!  I'm sure the doctor told you that REST is important for healing from this bladder infection.  Please get good rest and don't worry about anything.  You will be in prayers as you heal from this infection and get this EKG straight so you can get this surgery!

Oh no!  Sherry that just sux so bad I can't stand it.  The one good thing is that you have enough time between now and the surgery to get all this sorted out.  Try not to worry too much about the cardio business.  My Mom ran into the same thing and both times the cardiologist said there was nothing to worry about.  When she asked him why the other doctors freaked and he didn't, he said, "I have better toys than than they do."  LOL!

I know what you mean about infection knocking you for a loop.  The one I've been dealing with is finally about gone, but I've been out in the ozone for a good three weeks.  You don't even realize it until it's finally over.

Don't forget: you're a "tough old broad" so just keep on doing what you're doing and git 'er done!  :-D
