Broken Foot related to severe osteoporosis

I have severe osteoporosis, my bones are the age of a woman 87, I am 45.  This illness was discovered following a grand mal seizure in which I passed on, and in order to revive me, my spouse hit my chest and back alternately so I would breath, which worked, but ended up breaking 4 vertibrae, which also wasnt spotted by the hospital, and it wasnt until a week following I insisted on an xray, then tah-dah.
Anyhow, I often break bones, primarily my toes and fingers.
About 3 wks ago, I fell and it was so late at night, I just took a pain killer and went to bed. I woke up a few hours later with searing pain from my foot up my thigh.
I saw my Dr a few days later, and she gave me a request for an x-ray. I didnt have time to get it done right away, and my foot is still bothering me - my question is - would a broken bone still show on an x-ray this far after the fact? Is there anything they do for a break along the side of your foot? And third, I have had so many x-ray's, CT scans and MRI's in the last year, I worry about getting more, is this an invalid fear?
Thanks to anyone that can help me out with info.

Just a word of caution. If you do have a fracture it may not be all that painful now however things can change in a year or more.

Fractures that are not set properly can cause much pain and complications as time passes. A "fix" now can save a lot of pain and agony down the road and avoid a "no fix" situation later.

Please take good care of the only body you have.  You won't regret it.

Thanks for the info., everyone.
Even though I can walk on it, it does still bother me, so I will go and get the x-ray next week when I see the Dr.
I certainly hope they dont have to re-break it, actually if it came down to that, I would pass and deal with it the way it is, because it isnt a severe break, like when I broke my back or shoulder, that was obvious...but even then I waited 24 hrs before I went to the hospital (shoulder)....guess you are getting the impression I hate hospitals, if so, then you would be right...LOL

Will keep you posted and thanks!

Sorry to hear about your foot pain and condition. Don't be overly concerned with the scans, etc. It is minimal exposure these days and worth it for diagnostic purposes.

I broke my neck years ago and it still shows on scans, x-rays and the like. As you bone heals it fills in and shows up similar to a calcification. So yes they will be able to determine if it is fractured. Don't wait too long. If it is healing improperly they may have to re-break it to set in correctly. It is important that it maintains proper alignment.

Please let us know how you are doing.

Yes the break will show up even after this long. I would not worry about the effects of these tests at this point becuase it is the only way to locate the problem and this is more important.

I'm pretty sure a break will show up 3wks after the fact.I  am truely sorry about your condition. My mother suffered with it too.I  would be more concerned with osteo than with radiation exposure.
