Drug driver testing

Hi, does anyone know much about drug driver testing in Australia? I wondered if prescribed medications for chronic pain like methadone, fentanyl etc show up on the test and what happens if it does?

Drug driving test seriously how can they do that? When drugs can remain in your system from 2-90 days depending on what it is and how much you do.ive never herd such a crazy thing leave it up to them to try to make more quota money

This is wrong information. These drugs all have known average half lives, and clear the system within given time frames expressed in numbers of half lives down to an undetectable threshold.

Alisheva, I do not know the Australian law. I suggest that you investigate.

Here is a medical study that concludes that while acute users of opioids may have issues, driving impairment in chronic opioid therapy diminishes.

Look on your opiate bottles that may something like, "Use care when operating a motor vehicle."  .

Ppl can and have been given OWI tickets when taking an opiate - as prescribed - and driving. We all roll the dice when we get behind a wheel.

Sorry, I know nothing of the laws in Australia either. I can't think of a current member off the top of my head from Australia, sorry.
